Sexy Back

Orchestra: Bringing Sexy Back to PHP

Our manifesto: we’re bringing sexy back to PHP.

We want to make it easy for PHP developers to deploy their code, in a standard way.

We want to make it easy for PHP developers to scale their applications, to focus more on writing good code, to worry less about uptime.

Most importantly, we want to bring new tools to the PHP community.

One-click deployments of Wordpress and Drupal are nice, but we think the community could benefit more from easy access to tools such as nginx, Gearman, CouchDB, MongoDB, Memcached etc.

We also believe the community could benefit from easy access to solid, reputable third party service providers, allowing them to extend their applications, to build better web applications.

Our mission, therefore, is to reduce the barrier to entry, to reduce the learning curve for setting up, configuring and maintaining new tools and services, and to make it as easy as one click - while providing support for best practices when developing with emerging PHP 5.3 frameworks.

We want PHP developers to be able to build great, secure, stable and scalable services.

We want PHP developers to be forward looking, to build for the future, to focus on the problems of today and tomorrow, not the past.

We want PHP developers to be able to go head-to-head with our friends in other dev communities, and show that the we, the PHP community, are building great things.

Over the coming weeks and months, you’ll be seeing new tools and service integrations coming to Orchestra, and we’re really excited to see what the PHP community makes of it. Your feedback is central to making our vision a reality.

This is our manifesto, this is how we’re bringing sexy back to PHP.
